Rhizome-scales with purplish sheen. Leaves 20-35 cm; petiole about twice as long as lamina, reddish-brown with few filiform scales at base; lamina 10-20 cm wide, light green, glabrous, usually palmately 5-lobed, lobes acute, middle lobe longer than rest. Sori linear, often running full length of vein. Portugal, Açores. Az Lu. (N. Africa.)
