Rhizome slender, often much-branched and far-creeping. Leaves 25- 60 cm, with glabrous or sparsely scaly petiole as long as lamina; lamina 20-30 cm wide, deflate; pinnae lanceolate, lowest inflexed; pinnules obtuse or rounded, decreasing in size towards base, segments crenate-dentate, oblong, main veins covered beneath with multicellular crispate hairs. Sori small; indusium obscure, often caducous. 2/z = 82. Picea woodland. N.E. Europe and one small region of N. Norway. Fe No Rs (N, C).
