Up to 20 m; crown rounded;trunkandbranchesoftencrooked;bark silvery-grey, becomingreddish-brownanddeeplyfissured. Twigs glabrous,remaininglightgreyfor many years.Buds notresinous. Leaves 60-150x0-7 mm,inpairs,slender,cleargreen,with1 -3 layers of hypodermalcells;resin-canals3- 8,submarginal (sometimes with 1-2 median). Cone5 -12 x 4cm,shining,brown; apophysis convex; peduncle 1- 2cm,recurved.Seed c. 7 mm; wing c. 20 mm. Mediterraneanregion. BICo?CrGaGr Hs It Ju Sa Si [Lu].
