Dioecious; tree up to 15 m, with a broad pyramidal crown (but assuming a columnar habit under cultivation). Leaves 10-25 x 2-4 mm, linear-lanceolate, acuminate, patent, with two white bands above. Cone 20-25 mm, ripening in the second year, ovoid to subglobose, brown or bluish-black, pruinose. Seeds 3, minute, united to form a single large stone. S. Greece ( N. end of Parnon Oros , Arkadhia.) Gr. (Asia Minor and Syria.)

Referred by several authors to a monotypic genus (Arceuthos Antoine & Kotschy).
