Material examined. Type material. Lectotype (here designated): ♂ ( NHMUK) , SYN- / TYPE // Type / H . T. // Laos. / Ban Na Lane. / 2.I.1918 . / R. V. de Salvaza. // 1918-1 // Milichius / ornatus, / type Arrow // NHMUK 016412515 About NHMUK . Paralectotype: ♀ ( NHMUK) , SYN- / TYPE // allo- / Type // Laos. / Ban Na Lane. / 2.I.1918 . / R. V. de Salvaza. // 1918-1 // Milichius / ornatus, / co-type Arrow // NHMUK 016412518 About NHMUK .

Remarks. We examined the photographs of the type specimens of M. ornatus preserved in the Natural History Museum in London. According to the original description, Arrow (1920) apparently had more than one specimen at hand during the description. This was also confirmed by Mr. Keita Matsumoto (NHMUK), who sent us pictures of a male ‘type’ (with dissected aedeagus) (NHMUK 016412515) and a female ‘allotype’ (NHMUK 016412518) ( Fig. 6A–E View FIGURE 6 ). Therefore, taking the opportunity, we formally design here the male type specimen as the lectotype for Meilichius ornatus Arrow, 1920 , to fix the taxonomic status of this species.
