Remarks
To date, more than 170 species of the genus Ptilonyssus View in CoL have been described ( Domrow 1969 ; Pence 1975 ; Butenko 1984 ; Knee 2008; Dimov and de Rojas 2012; Dimov 2020). Representatives of this genus mainly parasitize birds from the order Passeriformes View in CoL ; a few species of this genus were recorded from host species of the order Falconiformes View in CoL and Apodiformes ( Knee and Proctor 2010; Beron 2020).
