Diagnosis: Nygmia quadrangularis is morphologically similar to N. marginata and N. insulata , but it can be distinguished by the number of dark spots at the outer margin of the forewing (see diagnosis for N. damuensis sp. nov.). In addition, the forewing ground color in females is dark brown in N. quadrangularis , while in N. marginata it is brown with a slight yellowish tint, and in N. insulata it is brownish-yellow (lighter than the other two). In the female genitalia, the anterior apophysis is slightly shorter than posterior apophysis in N. quadrangularis , and no signum present in the corpus bursae; while in N. marginata and N. insulata , the anterior apophysis and posterior apophysis are equal in length and both species possess a signum in the corpus bursae.

Distribution. China ( Guangdong, Hainan, Hong Kong, Xizang) ( Wang 2010).

Remarks. The species is reported for the first time in Xizang, China.
