Nygmia marginata : Chao (2003; misidentification).

Nygmia insulata ; Wang (2010: 28).

Material material. 1 male, Sejila Mountain , Linzhi City, Xizang, China, N:29°59′19′′, E: 95°01′02′′, 7-IX-2020, h [ Altitude] 2060 m (coll. Chen Enyong) ; 1 female, Pailong Township , Bayi District, Linzhi City, Xizang, China, N: 30°1.877′, E: 95°0.259′, 13-IX-2012, h [ Altitude] 2031 m (coll. Pan Zhaohui), unique numbers: STS-21347, STS-8064, gen. preps .

Diagnosis: In adults, the forewing bears eight distinct black circular spots. The ventral surfaces of both fore and hindwings in female display a slightly deeper yellow compared to males. The copulatory pouch is subelliptical. The signum is sclerotized and subspherical.

Distribution. China ( Sichuan, Yunnan, Taiwan, Xizang).

Remarks. Chao (2003) misidentified N. insulata and recorded it as N. marginata . Wang (2010) later provided illustrations of the male adults and male genitalia, clearly demonstrating the distinction between the two species. In this study, we further differentiate N. insulata from N. marginata based on the shape and size of the signum of the female genital, providing a reliable diagnostic character for visual identification. The species is reported for the first time in Xizang, China.
