Diagnosis: Nygmia marginata and N. insulata are frequently confused due to their high similarity, but they can be distinguished by the number of dark spots at the outer margin of the forewings. In females, the forewing of N. marginata is brown with a slight yellowish tint, whereas that of N. insulata is brownish-yellow. In the female genitalia, the copulatory pouches are similar in size, but their signa differ significantly. The signum of the N. marginata is smaller and lamellate, while in N. insulata it is larger, subspherical, and approximately twice the size of that in N. marginata .

Distribution. China ( Guangxi, Xizang); India; Nepal (Haruta 1993; Wang 2010).

Remarks. The species is reported for the first time in Xizang, China.
