Notes
Peltoperlidae are commonly referred to as Roachflies ( Stark et al. 1998, Stark et al. 2012). Larvae can be easily recognized in the field by their ovoid, roach-like shape ( Stewart and Stark 2002, see their fig. 12.1). Only two genera and two species have been reported from the state. Stark (2000) provided the most recent review of the eastern North American species of this family. Adult collection dates range from late April through the end of June (Fig. 31 View Figure 31 ). Peltoperlidae in New York occupy a wide range of elevations at 98-609 m asl (Fig. 32 View Figure 32 ), with Peltoperla arcuata restricted to a single historical collection location at 125 m asl. Tallaperla maria is more common and widespread and is reported from elevations ranging from 98-609 m asl.
