Distribution in Nepal: Bagmati Province, Kavrepalanchowk District, Chandeswari River, Banepa; Koshi Province, Taplejung District, Maewa Khola, Sanghu (1980 m asl) ( Sims 1963; Nesemann et al. 2007).

Distribution elsewhere: Bahamas, China, Cuba, Florida, Guiana, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malay Peninsula, North America, Pakistan, Salvador, Sri-Lanka, Sierra Leone, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates ( Shen et al. 2005; Mandal et al. 2010; Reynolds & Reynolds 2010; Pavlíèek & Csuzdi 2012; Chang et al. 2016).

Habitat: Bamboo, grass, lakes, mud, marshy areas, ponds, rainforest, river, soils, streams, tanks, wells ( Sims 1963; Gates 1972).

Ecology: Epi-endogeic (Ahmad et al. 2024).

Remarks: Collected by K.H. Hyatt in 1961 from Chandeswari River Banepa Kavreplanchcok, Maewa Khola, Sanghu, Taplejung, Nepal ( Sims 1963). Sims (1963) considered Pheretima campanulata and Metaphire houlleti as two distinct species, however, Gates (1972) and Ahmed et al. (2020) regarded Pheretima campanulata as a synonym of Metaphire houlleti .
