Distribution: Endemic to New Guinea ( Bakhuizen van den Brink, 1943).
Notes: The original type of M. schumanniana ( Ledermann 8921) at the Herbarium Berlin ( B) was not found and assumed lost during the Second World War. The only type duplicate is found in the Herbarium of the Singapore Botanic Garden ( SING) and chosen as a lectotype here .
