Neotype (Paton in Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 517. 2001): Cultivated. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, 6 Jul 1880, Nicholson 1586 (K).

Current name: Salvia officinalis L. View in CoL ( Lamiaceae ).

Note: This name has not been in use for many years, and has been variously associated with S. lavandulifolia Vahl , S. officinalis L. and S. aucheri Benth. There are no extant original elements for the name, and the neotype chosen by Paton results in S. cretica becoming a synonym of S. officinalis .
