Lectotype (Fosberg in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 69: 585. 1942): Herb. Linn. No. 151.6 ( LINN) .
Current name: Cornus sericea L. ( Cornaceae ).
Note: This name was was based on several elements leading Rickett (in Rhodora 36: 272. 1934) to propose its rejection as a nomen ambiguum. However, Fosberg ( l.c.) disagreed, using the name in the sense of his designated type material in LINN (and C. stolonifera Michx. ). See also Eyde (in Bot. Rev. 54: 255. 1988).
