The first record of Buchananiella continua (White, 1880) (Heteroptera: Anthocoridae ) for the Canary Islands ( Spain)
was reported by RIBES & RIBES (1997) from the island of La Palma. This report was based on one specimen found in 1994 in Juan Adalid ( RIBES & RIBES, 1997) and has been the only record of B. continua reported from the archipelago, so far ( RIBES & RIBES, 1997; AUKEMA et al., 2006, 2013; ROCA-CUSACHS et al., 2020).
Herein, the first record of B. continua on the island of Tenerife is reported: On 12-05-2025, an adult specimen ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) was found in El Jardín, located near Los Realejos at the northern coast of the island (coordinates: 28.3883688456, -16.5722647682). A photograph of the specimen was uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
This opportunity is used to correct a previous mistake, which was based on a communication error: The correct name of the photographer mentioned in VAN DER HEYDEN (2025) is Salomé Domínguez Estévez.
