The species was described in Thunberg (1813: 381) and Thunberg (1815: 116), the former with a reference to the latter work (see Discussion). Schönherr (1845: 308) referred to the name but did not see the specimen. This is a species of Curculioninae , provisionally assigned here to Anoplini sensu lato (action attributable to R. Caldara). One specimen.
