SHORT DESCRIPTION: A medium to large (8-12 mm) Nomada with a characteristic yellowblack pattern on the abdomen. Propodeum with 2 yellow spots. Antennae red on the underside. Labrum with a sharp longitudinal carina. Females with a yellow pronotum that is centrally strongly notched ( SMIT, 2018)
HOST SPECIES: Melitta haemorrhoidalis (Fabricius, 1775) ( SMIT, 2018; WESTRICH, 2018)
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Most observations from this species are from Central Europe: Switzerland, Austria and Germany. The species is also found in Southern Europe towards Spain, Italy and Greece, and in Northern Europe towards the Baltic states ( SCHEUCHL &
WILLNER, 2016), the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018), France ( SMIT, 2018) and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021). It has not been recorded in the United Kingdom ( SMIT, 2018; ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018).
EU RED LIST STATUS: Near threatened (NT) ( NIETO et al., 2014)
