SHORT DESCRIPTION: Large (11-14 mm) Nomada species, with a largely red abdomen. Antennal segments 3 and 4 are equally long and the labrum is partly red with a large tooth in the middle. Males have a small tubercle on the hind face of the antennal segments 5 to 10 and antennal segment 3 is significantly shorter than segment 4.
HOST SPECIES: Andrena polita (Smith, 1847) ( SMIT, 2018; WESTRICH, 2018)
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: From Southern over Central Europe to the Balkans and the Caucasus. Northwards to Germany ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). Recorded in the Netherlands ( SMIT, 2018; REEMER, 2018) and France ( DUFRÊNE et al., 2014; SMIT, 2018). There are no records from the United Kingdom ( SMIT, 2018; ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018) or the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( SMIT, 2018; HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021).
EU RED LIST STATUS: Near threatened (NT) ( NIETO et al., 2014)
