SHORT DESCRIPTION: Large (12-14 mm) Nomada species, abdomen black with yellow bands, often interrupted on the first two terga. Legs red with some yellow spots or entirely yellow in the females. Thorax with yellow maculations.
HOST SPECIES: Andrena agilissima (Scopoli, 1770) ( SMIT, 2018; WESTRICH, 2018).
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Widespread with observations from almost all countries in Western, Central, Southern and south-eastern Europe ( SMIT, 2018). No records from the United Kingdom ( SMIT, 2018; ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018). Nomada melathoracica was new for the Netherlands in 2008 ( REEMER, 2018, www.waarneming.nl). It has since been found on a few locations, all close to the border with Belgium and in proximity to our observation.
