Andrena (Euandrena) fulvata (Stoeckhert, 1930) View in CoL
Figs 2 View Fig , 9 D View Fig
SHORT DESCRIPTION: A medium sized (9-11 mm) ground-nesting solitary bee. It is closest to A. angustior (Kirby, 1802) because of its drop shaped fovea, central impressed line on the clypeus, and slightly depressed tergal margins in the female sex, and in the male sex because of its conspicuously broadened gena and comparatively long mandibles. Considered a subspecies of A. angustior by Warncke, it is nevertheless clearly distinct and is best separated by the sculpturing of the tergal margins which are shining in A. angustior but shagreened and dull in A. fulvata .
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: In contrast to the Atlantic distribution of its sister species A. angustior , A. fulvata has a continental distribution in Central and Eastern Europe, from south-eastern France ( GUSENLEITNER & SCHWARZ, 2002) and northern Italy to Bulgaria, and north to Germany and now Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021; SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016) and the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; approved observations on https://waarneming.nl/species/161731/). There are no records from the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018).
