SHORT DESCRIPTION: Medium-sized Halictus species from the subgenus Seladonia (6.5- 8 mm). It is hard to distinguish from other species in its subgenus. Front tibiae and tarsi are orangeyellow, and the eyes are green on live specimens. The spur on the hind tibia has 6 or 7 small teeth. The antennae from the males are considerably shorter than those from other Seladonia species. Diagnosis and keys in PAULY (2021).

DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Common species in Southern and Central Europe. It has been found from Iran and China to Spain and Poland. Northwards to the Baltic states and Russia ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). There are no records from the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; www.waarneming.nl) and the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018) but it is present in France ( PAULY & BELVAL, 2017), Germany ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016) and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg date since 2000 ( FEITZ, 2003; HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021).
