SHORT DESCRIPTION: A medium-sized (6-7 mm) Lasioglossum species of about the same size as L. villosulum (Kirby, 1802) . The scutum is coarsely punctated and the head is deeply ridged on the underside, hence its vernacular name “Ridge-cheeked furrow bee”. Can be found in various habitats, like soft rock cliffs, sea walls, heathlands and old quarries ( FALK, 2015). Diagnosis and keys in PAULY (2021).
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Eastern and Central Europe, from the United Kingdom to Bulgaria. Also widespread in Southwestern Europe. In North Africa from Morocco to Tunisia ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). No records from the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; www.waarneming.nl), but it is present in Germany ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016), France ( PAULY & BELVAL, 2017), the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018) and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021).
