SHORT DESCRIPTION: Both sexes with a metallic blue (-green) color, pale mark on the clypeus and pale mark on the pronotal lobe. This species is easy to distinguish from the other Ceratina species in Belgium by its large size (6-9 mm). It is however not the largest Ceratina species that occurs in Europe.

DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: found throughout Southern, Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa and large parts of Asia ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). No records from the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; www.waarneming.nl), the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021) or the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018), but present in France and Germany ( TERZO et al., 2007).
