SHORT DESCRIPTION: A medium sized (5 - 9 mm) Ceratina species that is easy to distinguish from the other species in its genus in Belgium by its black cuticle. Both sexes have a pale mark on the clypeus and the pronotal lobe.
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Found mostly in Southern, Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa and big parts of Asia ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). The most northern records reach the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021), France ( TERZO et al., 2007) and Germany ( WESTRICH 1989, 2018; TERZO et al., 2007). There are no records from the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018) or from the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; www. waarneming.nl).
EU RED LIST STATUS: Least concern (LC) ( NIETO et al., 2014)

COMMENTS:
- The first records from the species in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg date from 2001 and 2002 ( FEITZ et al., 2003; HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021).
