SHORT DESCRIPTION: This species is a small lookalike (5-8 mm) of S. monilicornis (Kirby, 1802) because of the strongly developed genae and square-shaped face, but the hindwing has fewer than seven hamuli ( BOGUSCH & STRAKA, 2012).
HOST SPECIES: Unknown ( BOGUSCH & STRAKA, 2012; WESTRICH, 2018).
DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Mainly southwestern- and Central Europe, from Portugal to Bulgaria and Germany ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). No records from the United Kingdom ( ELSE & EDWARDS, 2018), the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021) and the Netherlands ( REEMER, 2018; www.waarneming.nl), but it has been found in France ( BOGUSCH & STRAKA, 2012).
