Figs 4 View Fig , 10 View Fig C-D

SHORT DESCRIPTION: A small Heriades species (5-6 mm) that resembles our native species H. truncorum (Linnaeus, 1758) . Females can be distinguished by checking the lower margin of clypeus. H. truncorum has two protruding medial tubercles in this area, whereas H. rubicola has a finely crenulate lower margin of the clypeus, with numerous small denticles. Males have short hairs on the first two sternites, whereas males from H. truncorum have long dense hairs.

DISTRIBUTION IN EUROPE: Central and Southern Europe: From Morocco to Austria and from the United Kingdom ( CROSS & NOTTON, 2017) to Cyprus. In Asia to Israel and Jordan ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016). No observations from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg ( HERRERA MESÍAS & WEIGAND, 2021), but it was observed in France, Germany ( SCHEUCHL & WILLNER, 2016) and the Netherlands ( GOUDSMITS & SMIT, 2022).
