Neotype: UPNG 8134, Kowat village , Adelbert Mts, Madang Province, PNG (don: J. Menzies, 1988).

Remarks: Now Oreophryne biroi . Neotype designated by Zweifel et al. (2003), who gave the altitude as 1000m. Specimen not examined.
