Sphenophryne dentata Tyler & Menzies 1971: 79 View in CoL .
Paratypes: UPNG 1727, near Alotau [near high school, fide card file – refers to Cameron High School, near which Menzies used to collect fide I. Bigilale], Milne Bay Province, PNG ( J.I. Menzies, 8.x.1969); UPNG 2625-29, 2640-46, near Alotau, Milne Bay Province, PNG ( Menzies, 14.xi.1970).
Remarks: Type series consists of 24 specimens; holotype and other paratypes in SAMA, BMNH. Paratype 2625 sent to BMNH xi.1974, where it is registered as 1974.5464 (B. Clarke, pers. comm.). Paratypes 1727, 2629 and 2641 not found. Description gave date for 2625-29, 2640-46 as 6-12.xi.1970. Species transferred to Liophryne by Zweifel (2000), who also noted that 2641 is a cleared-and-stained osteological preparation. The jar containing the paratypes also contains 7612, with a loose tag; this would not appear to be a paratype. Located paratypes are faded.
