Morphology of preimaginal stages: Eggs brown, matte, prolate spheroid in shape (length ca. 2.8 mm); attached to substrate; incubation period takes 9 days. L1: length at hatching 5 mm; length before first molting 10 mm; head capsule light brown with translucent white setae; eyes black; prothoracic shield black-brown and having two double fused scoli with translucent white setae; thoracic legs dark brown, abdominal prolegs black; ground colour black; each of thoracic segments T 2– T 3 and abdominal segments A1–A7 bears 6 black scoli with translucent white setae. L2: length after molting 10 mm, length before second molting 16 mm; head capsule light brown with grey setae of various lengths; eyes dark brown; prothoracic shield creamy-white with two large black spots, each of them bears two small anterior orange scoli; ground colour green; body has two rows of orange scoli dorsally, one row of orange scoli and one row of deep blue scoli laterally; all scoli with dark brown setae; legs brown; spiracles black-brown. L3: length after molting 16 mm, length before third molting 35 mm; similar to L2 but differs by presence of significantly smaller two black spots on prothoracic shield; large lateral silver scoli having pale reddish apex and situated over spiracles on abdominal segments A2–A4; dorsal scoli bear small silver spot at base. L4: length after molting 35 mm, length before fourth molting 35 mm; similar to L3 but differs by presence of five large lateral silver scoli having pale coral apex and situated over spiracles on abdominal segments A1–A5 (three silver scoli in L3); dorsal scoli light green. L5: length after molting 35 mm, length before fifth molting 45 mm; similar to L4; head capsule light pinkish with small black spots and edged with wide reddish-brownish band; dorsal side of body covered with light yellowish setae; large dorsal silver scoli on abdominal segments A1–A3; dorsal scoli pale blue on abdominal segments A4–A7. L6: length after molting 45 mm, length before sixth molting 55 mm; similar to L5 but differs by presence of large dorsal silver scoli on abdominal segments A1–A2 (A1–A 3 in L5), dorsal lilac scoli on A3–A7, and four large lateral silver scoli on A1–A4 (five silver scoli in L5). L7: length after molting 55 mm, length before pupation 85 mm; similar to L6 but differs by presence of three large lateral silver scoli on abdominal segments A1–A3 (four silver scoli in L6).

Larval feeding in breeding experiment: The larvae fed on Quercus spp. ( Fagaceae ).
