Carbonocoryphe View in CoL ? rockhamptonensis (Mitchell 1918)
Figs. 6.2–6.4

1892b Phillipsia woodwardi Etheridge Jr. ; p. 215, pl. 44, fig. 6.
1918 Phillipsia rockhamptonensis Mitchell ; p. 495–461, pl. 49, figs. 9–10, pl. 50, fig. 8. 1963 Conophillipsia? sp.; Campbell & Engel, pl. 8, figs. 1–2.
1972 Phillipsia ( Phillipsia ?) rockhamptonensis ; Hahn & Hahn, p. 400. 1989 Aprathia rockhamptonensis ; Engel & Morris, p. 327–332, figs. 11–12.
Lectotype. QMF17–1234a/b (half internal/external moulds of dorsal shield).
Paralectotype. QMF17–1233 (external pygidium).
Locality. NU L 1064.
Emended diagnosis. Glabella conical, widest close to occipital furrow, distinct S1–S3; eyes long and wide; genal spines long. Pygidial pleural grooves extend to margin (faint at posterior); 11–12 axial rings; sub-cylindrical shape.
Remarks. Carbonocoryphe ? rockhamptonensis was reassigned to Aprathia by Engel & Morris (1989), after elevating the subgenus Carbonocoryphe ( Aprathia) to generic rank. However, the placement of this species within the genus is thought to be suspect (G. Hahn, pers. comm. 2011). Carbonocoryphe ? rockhamptonensis does not closely resemble any other Carboniferous genus found within Australia, or in fact any other phillipsiid, making it difficult to assign this species to a genus with confidence. The species has been provisionally placed within Carbonocoryphe , due to its similar pygidial characters..
