Generitype of Torenia Linnaeus.

Current name: Torenia asiatica L. View in CoL ( Scrophulariaceae ).

Note: The story of the discovery of this plant by Olof Torén and the questions raised about its provenance have been discussed by Torén (in Svenska-Linné Sällsk. Årsskr. 36: 17-56. 1954), who also illustrates the type specimen as Bild 24, Saldanha (in Bull. Bot. Surv. India 8: 126. 1966) and Burtt (in Rheedea 1: 5-7. 1991).
