Type material examined. Holotype (by monotypy) , ♂ ( NSMT, Figs 10–15 View FIGURES 10‒15 ), labelled: “ HOLOTYPE [P.],
Protaetia nigropurpurea, Yawata, 1941 [H.], [red label with black border] / HOLOTYPE [H.], [white label] / Musha, 9. 1 [H.], [white label with black border]”. In the original publication, Yawata (1941) mentioned that the male holotype was collected on July 21, 1934.
Additional material examined. Taiwan. 2 ♂♂, 2 ♀♀ ( PMCH), Taoyuan county, Fuxing distr., Lala Shan Mts. , 2.–13.May 2016, Seng-Sung Tu leg. ( Figs 22–24 View FIGURES 16‒24 ) .
