Original combination: Scaptophilus striatellus Fairmaire, 1878: 264–265 .
Junior subjective synonyms: (1) Scaptophilus fabius Fairmaire, 1878: 264 , nomenclatural invalidity here reinstalled based on the juniority of fabius under striatellus established through the Principle of the First Reviser as applied by Endrödi (1969: 108, 131). (2) Scaptophilus quadratus Fairmaire, 1878: 265–266 , juniority under striatellus established by Endrödi (1969: 108, 131) through the Principle of the First Reviser by treating it as of inferior rank under the latter name; synonymy first unambiguously recognized by Ratcliffe et al. (2023) and Duarte et al. (2025).
