Type not designated.

Original material: Herb. Hermann 5: 272, No. 373 [icon] ( BM) .

Current name: Helminthostachys zeylanica (L.) Hook. ( Ophioglossaceae ).

Note: Van Ooststroom (in Blumea, Suppl. 1: 195. 1937) regarded a Hermann specimen in L as the type. However, it was almost certainly never seen by Linnaeus, a supposition borne out by Linnaeus’ statement ( Fl. Zeylanica: 178. 1748) "Inter pictas Hermanni plantas est" implying he had seen only the drawing in the Hermann collection (now in BM) rather than a Hermann specimen.
