Singillatus multispinatus Meshram View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 2–3 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 )
Description of species
Male: General habitus dark brown. Head ochraceous, frontoclypeus and clypellus dark brown but paler dorsally and along laterofrontal suture, lora and genae dark brown. Pronotum black with fine yellow speckles & mesonotum black. Forewing dark brown with pale spots, venation dark brown with yellow speckles. Hind leg with apex of femur, tibia and tarsal segments black, setae on hind tibia brown to light brown ( Figs. 2a–b View FIGURE 2 ).
Head large 0.8x as wide as pronotum, anterior margin rounded; crown narrow produced beyond anterior margin of eyes, ocelli prominent situated near anterior margin of crown, eyes large, elongate ovoid occupying about 2/3 entire dorsal area of head ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ); clypeus long and narrow, lateral margin expanded apically, clypellus expanded apically not surpassing facial margin ( Fig. 2d View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotum large, median length 1.3x length of crown, surface roughly knobbed; mesonotum and scutellum combined length 1.8x length of pronotum. Forewing dark brown with pale spots, venation dark brown with yellow speckles. Hind femoral macrosetae 2+2+0.
Male genitalia: Pygofer in lateral view triangular with long caudoventral process broadened to midlength then tapered with pointed apex not reaching posterior dorsal angle ( Figs. 3f–g View FIGURE 3 ). Subgenital plate broad at base, more or less of uniform width throughout length, apex rounded with numerous spines in lateral view ( Figs. 3c–d View FIGURE 3 ). Style broad at base, apophysis short, apex pointed ( Fig. 3e View FIGURE 3 ). Connective Y shaped ( Fig. 3h View FIGURE 3 ). Aedeagus with shaft slightly sinuate subapically, short subapical spine simple, very slender, length ~0.14x total length of aedeagus; gonopore dorsal just basad of subapical process ( Figs. 3a–b View FIGURE 3 ).
Measurements: Male 8.4 mm long, 2.1 mm wide across eyes and 2.5 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.
Type material: HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: Arunachal Pradesh: Khonsa, 2701'12''N, 950 34'12''E, 989m, 11.vii.2018, Sweep net, Stuti ( NPC).
Etymology: The species name refers to the numerous spinelike macrosetae on the apex of the subgenital plate.
Remarks: S. multispinatus Meshram sp. nov. resembles S. singularis (Nielson) in general habitus but differs in having the pygofer spine broadened preapically (slender in S. singularis ); the subgenital plate rounded with many apical macrosetae in lateral view ( S. singularis with short spine apically); and the aedeagal process shorter and closer to the shaft apex.
