Lectotype (designated here):— BOLIVIA. La Paz: Coripata, 24 June 1894, Bang 2295 ( NY! [ NY00415487 ] ; isolectotypes CORD! [ CORD00003298 ]; E! [ E00265866 ]; F! [ V0073980F ], [ V0332599F ]; G! Rusby (1896) cited the specimen Bang 2295 as the type of Luehea tomentella , stating that material from several herbaria was used to study the genus, but mainly from K and LGO herbaria. Currently the Columbia herbarium is included in the NY collection, where Rusby worked ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 997), and in this herbarium three duplicate of this original collection were found, with several duplicates in other herbaria. For these reasons, according to Arts. 9.3 and 9.4 of the ICN, we designate here, among the syntypes, the specimen NY [NY00415487] with the label written by Rusby as the lectotype of Luehea tomentella .
