Lectotype (designated here):— PANAMA. Veraguas: Bahia Honda, February 1849, Seemann 1634 ( BM! [ BM013823746 ] ; isolectotypes K! [ K000381815 ] , [ K000381816 ]; MPU! [ MPU017296 ] ).
In the publication of Luehea seemannii, Planchon and Triana (1862) cited the specimen Seemann 1634 as the type. We found four duplicates of this specimen in the herbaria BM, K and MPU. For this reason, in accordance with Arts. 9.3 and 9.4 of the ICN, we designate here, among the syntypes, the specimen Seemann 1634 (BM [BM013823746]) as the lectotype of Luehea seemannii .
