Genus novum ob cotyledones conduplicatas Orychophragmo Bunge affine est, a quo foliis basalibus petiolatis, indivisis (nec pinnatifidis), foliis caulinis basi cordatis, longi-petiolatis (nec auriculatis vel amplexicaulibus, sessilibus), petalis basi attenuatis (nec unguiculatis), siliquis apice truncatis (nec rostratis) differt.
Perennial herbs. Rhizome obliquely ascending. Stems erect or ascending, pilose or glabrous. Basal leaves narrowly ovate, triangular-ovate to broadly ovate, simple, rarely with 1‒3 lateral lobes on each side, cordate at base, serrate and irregularly biserrate at margin, long-petiolate; cauline leaves similar to basal ones, long-petiolate. Raceme manyflowered. Flowers white or pale pink; petals obovate to narrowly obovate; claw inconspicuous. Siliques linear, 2- valved, dehiscent, truncate at apex; valves 3-veined, with a prominent mid-vein; septa whitish, membranaceous. Seeds uniseriately arranged in each locule, wingless, densely verrucose; cotyledons conduplicate.
Sinalliaria is similar to Orychophragmus Bunge in having cotyledons that are conduplicate, but differs by having basal leaves petiolate, simple (not pinnatifid), cauline leaves petiolate, cardate at base (not sessile, auriculate or amplexicaul at base), siliques truncate (not beaked) at apex.
