Harpactor tuberculosus Stål, 1872 View in CoL
Wygodzinsky (1947) provided a synopsis of Harpactor Laporte, 1832 and a key to its species along with summarized information about them. Among its four species, prey and biology records exist only for H. angulosus (Lepeletier & Serville, 1825) , as summarized by Costa et al. (2022).
Harpactor tuberculosus Stål, 1872 View in CoL usually has a length of 20 mm and may be recognized, among other characteristics, by the process on the median portion of the collar of the pronotum fore lobe ( Wygodzinsky 1947) and the shape of the connexivum ( Fig. 3H View Figures 3 ). In the present study, an individual of Astylus (Astylus) quadrilineatus (Germar, 1825) ( Coleoptera View in CoL : Melyridae View in CoL ) was recorded being preyed by a female of H. tuberculosus View in CoL ( Figs. 4 View Figures 4 A-B). Adults of A. (A.) quadrilineatus are pollinators, and have hairy bodies to which pollen adheres, aiding in its transport from flower to flower.
Distribution. Argentina and Brazil ( Wygodzinsky 1947).
