Prolactistes gen. nov.
Type species. Prolactistes australis sp. nov.; gender masculine
Diagnosis. Within Cydninae Proloctistes can easily be distinguished from all other genera by a set of following characters: 5-segmented antennae, head snbmargins bearing both hair-like and peg-like setae ( Fig. 2), apex of metapleural peritremc with posterior margin modified into claw-like process (Fig. 4), and fore tibiae conspicuously produced beyond the point ut tarsal insertion (Fig. 3). In its general habitus the new genus is similar to Lnctistcs, but can at nnoc be separated from the latter by having head submargins armed with both hair-like and peg-like setae, whereas only hair-like setae are present in the representativos of the genus Lantisføs.
Description. Body ( Fig. 1) robust, elongatedly ovate, dorsally convex. Head broader than long, its lateral mai* gins strongly upcurvcd; elypeus usually shorter than para/elypei, though sometimes almost as long as the letters; each paraclypeus with a subruarginal row of peg-like and hair-like setae ( Fig. 2); eyes moderately protruding, each with the apical seta: ocelli present, well-developed: anten › nae slender. S-scgmented. Pronotum broader than long, narrowed anteriorly, its dise undivided into lobes, its umbones swollen to a degree, lateral margins with row of setigerous punctures hearing hair-like setac. Scutellum elongated, its apex tongue-like. Corium divided into clavus, meso- and exocorium; costa with setigerous punetures bearing long hair-like setae; membrane normally developed, not reduced. Propleural depression deep. well-developed, making anterior and posterior convexities ui propleuron well delimited; mesoplcural evaporative area large, triangular (Fig. 4); metapleural evaporativea area large. bearing a polished wedge-shaped band directed towards the peritremal apex (Fig. 4); the latter With claw-like process ou its posterior margin. Anterior tibia strongly broadened apically, its outer margin entirely with strong stout spines (Fig. 3); lore tarsus present. never inserted apically; posterior femur and tibia flattened. Abdominal sterna smooth and polished in the middle, lateral parts punctured and striated.
Etymology. The name is given to shuw close aífinities of the new genus to Lru-lisles.
