Pseudopachybrachius reductus (Walker, 1872) View in CoL
( Heteroptera : Rhyparochromidae : Rhyparochrominae ) was originally described from the Seychelles ( ZHENG & SLATER, 1984). The species has been reported from tropical Africa (e.g. Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Madagascar, Senegal, Somalia), from South Africa and from Yemen ( Socotra Archipelago) ( ZHENG & SLATER, 1984; AUKEMA, 2024).
Now, P. reductus can be reported from the Canary Islands ( Spain), too: On 05-04-2024, an adult specimen ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) was found in La Laguna in the northern part of the island of Tenerife. The specimen was found on the edge of a front garden of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of La Laguna (Fernando Martín Melián Guerra, pers. comm.). Two photographs of the specimen were uploaded to the online database iNaturalist (see here).
