Heteroglymma biramosum (Motschulsky) View in CoL
Trigonops biramosus Motschulsky, 1859: 102–103 View in CoL . Type locality: Sunda Islands .
Trigonops jekeli Pascoe 1860: 128 View in CoL , pl. VII, fig. 9. Type locality: Manado. Synonymy by Faust (1897).
Description. Syntype, male ( Fig. 13d, e View FIGURE 13 ). Length. Pronotum plus elytron 5.90 mm. Integument dark black, femora dark ferruginous, sparsely covered with appressed, grey scales. Head with curved furrow separating swollen rostral base; forehead with indistinct median furrow; vertex squamose, laterally and anteriorly with shallow furrows. Eyes evenly convex. Rostrum 1.33 X longer than wide, sides subparallel; dorsum in basal half with shallow median impression. Antenna. Funicle with article 2 1.8 X longer than article 1. Pronotum subglobose, 1.01 X longer than wide; laterally coarsely punctate and squamose, medially granulate, subglabrous. Elytra 1.04 X as long as wide (excluding extensions), above declivity with pointed posterolateral extensions; sparsely covered with dull bluish scales; punctures coarse, intervals transversely corrugate; with inconspicuous rows of subrecumbent, narrow bristles. Legs. Protibia ( Fig. 13b View FIGURE 13 ). Genitalia. Penis ( Fig. 13c View FIGURE 13 ) Intraspecific variation. Length. Pronotum plus elytron 5.65–6.25 mm. Female elytra with posterolateral extensions cone shaped, much shorter than in males.
Material examined. Type specimen. Trigonops biramosus Motschulsky , syntype, male ( Fig.13a View FIGURE 13 ): INDONESIA, “ Celebes ”; labels ( Fig. 13f View FIGURE 13 ); condition: pinned, somewhat moldy ( ZMMU). Other material examined: N-Sulawesi: 1 ex ( Fig. 13a–c View FIGURE 13 , ARC3560 View Materials , EMBL # LN866376), N-Sulawesi, Tomohon, Rurukan, Gn. Mahawu, N01° 21.409´ E124° 51.535´ to N01° 21.370´ E124° 51.676´, 1126–1231 m, 14-V-2012 ( SMNK) GoogleMaps ; 9 exx, Tomohon, Gn. Mahawu, 1150–1200 m, 30-XI-1999.
Notes. Photographs of the only syntype available, kindly provided by V. Savitsky ( Moscow) were examined. The syntype is somewhat moldy, so it appears unlikely that DNA sequences could still be obtained. The type locality is stated as “ Celebes ”. Based on external characters and the consideration that the most likely collecting site at the time was near Manado , specimens from Tomohon were identified as this species .
