CF. THORACOSAURUS SP.

Localities: L’Espinau, Barranco de Extremadura, Camino de Fornons-2.

Material: IPS-96662, MPZ-2017-806, MPZ-2017/1136 ( Fig. 6A–E View Figure 6 ).

Description: Slender, conical and mostly straight teeth. The complete tooth is 19.5 mm high and 4.7 mm wide. The cross-section is circular. The enamel is ornamented with abundant basiapical ridges on both lingual and labial surfaces. The carinae are absent, or at least not well-marked compared to the enamel ridges, being indistinguishable.

Remarks: Almost straight, slender and conical teeth with striated ornamentation were referred to Thoracosaurus sp. ( Laurent et al., 2000; Puértolas-Pascual et al., 2016). The presence of this marine gavialoid is in concordance with the palaeoenvironment inferred for the Arén Formation ( Puértolas-Pascual et al., 2018) and with the microvertebrate assemblage reported from the L’Espinau site ( Blanco et al., 2016, 2017).
