Type material examined. Holotype (by monotypy) ( Figs 7 View Figures 1–7 , 11 View Figure 11 ): female, [ China, Xinjiang] “Ost- Turkestan | (Aksu) | Rückbeil 1903” (top side) “crassipuncta Püng. ♀ | Type , abgeb. Iris 1906 | 4.05 v. R. Tancré” (reverse) / pink label “Type | crassipuncta Püng. | ♀ ” / “3836 ♀ | gen.prep.No. | det. L.Ronkay ” / “ Scotocampa | crassipuncta | Püngeler | Holotype | det. L.Ronkay /91” ( MfN).
Note. The species is currently known only from the female holotype. The drawing of the female genitalia of the holotype was illustrated by Ronkay & Varga (1993) and ( Gyulai & Ronkay 2002). The photo of the genital preparation is published herein for the first time ( Fig. 11 View Figure 11 ).
Distribution. The species is currently known only from its type locality in the northern limits of the Tarim Basin in western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China ( Püngeler 1905) ( Fig. 12 View Figure 12 ).
