Distinct velum with several irregular projections, continuing posteriorly into notal rim. Posterior end of foot broad, tapering into pointy “tail.” Color translucent dirty-white, with few yellow spots; posterior end translucent. Internal organs partially visible through body wall as opaque white, pinkish areas. Rhinophores bulbous with narrow tips, 14 lamellae, cream-white. Gill with 8 small, bipinnate leaves, opaque white, forming circle around anus, opened posteriorly. Foot wider than notum, translucent white. Oral tentacles small, blunt.
Phylogenetic position. Gymnodoris sp. 15 is sister to Gymnodoris sp. 16 (PP: 1, MLB: 97) and this clade is probably sister to Gymnodoris brunnea (PP: 0.78, MLB: 98) ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ).
Remarks. According to Gosliner et al., (2018) this species is characterized by having bulbous rhinophores and elongated tentacular extensions on the anterior end of the foot. It has been reported from Papua New Guinea ( Knutson & Gosliner, 2022) and New Caledonia (present study).
