Subspecies: G. s. subgutturosa (Güldenstaedt, 1778) .
Distribution: Confined to a narrow geographical range of arid plains and steppes near Jabal Abd Al-Aziz and Mesopotamia ( Fig. 107 View FIGURE 107 ).
Previous records: ar-Raqqa ( Dollman & Burlace 1935), vicinity of Tell Abiad ( Misonne 1957), Ras Al-Ayn ( Kumerloeve 1975), Buhayrat Al-Khatuniyah, Jabal Abd Al-Aziz, and Ras Al-Ayn ( Evans 1994), and Jabal Abd Al-Aziz ( Masseti 2000).
Recent records: Southwest steppes of Jabal Abd al-Aziz (2019–2021).
Remarks: Distribution may be extended into Mesopotamia based on photographic evidence obtained from steppes near Jabal Abd al-Aziz which proved to be G. subgutturosa .
