Distribution: Known only from the villages of Tafas and Hammer in the Daraa District, southwestern region (Peshev 1989, 1991) ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 ).
Remarks: Earlier on reported as a subspecies of Calomyscus bailwardi Thomas, 1905 . Known only from 14 museum vouchers which constitute the type series. We attempted to trace these vouchers, but none could be retrieved in the National Museum of Natural History and Faculty of Biology at the University ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’ (both in Sofia, Bulgaria). A single skull from the type series is kept in the collections of the Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt a. M., Germany (B. Kryštufek, unpublished data).
