The gender of this name was not correct in the original combination, as with Monomorium the correct neuter form would be tambourinense for this latinised word. However, with Chelaner , the original masculine spelling is valid. The name is from Mt. Tamborine, which is named after a Yugambeh word from the Wangerriburra clan, meaning "wild lime tree" or "yam in a cliff" ( Queensland Government 2025) and not named after the musical instrument. The spelling can not be changed (Art. 32.5.1).
