Comments. Spinola (1851) in the original description for locality of the type series cites “ Del norte de la República, Sotaqui, Saturno, etc ”, without listing the number of specimens included. Later on, Townes & Townes (1966: 73) designated a lectotype by simply stating “ #f, Chile (Turin) ” without clarifying the locality of the specimen they selected. According to ICZN (1999: article 74.5) this is a valid designation.
