Distribution. Chile: Región de Arica y Parinacota ( Brèthes 1913a); Región de Valparaíso ( Brèthes 1913a).
Comments. Brèthes (1913a: 312) described the species Hyposoter similis based on a female and an unreported number of males. In a different publication with the same date, Brèthes (1913b: 140–141) described again the same taxon based on the same type specimens. Townes & Townes (1966: 153) acted as the first reviewer in determining that Brèthes (1913a) takes the precedence (ICZN 1999: article 24.2.2). Therefore, Hyposoter similis Brèthes 1913 from Brèthes (1913b: 239) should be considered an unavailable name.
